The continued fight against proposed increase to Court Fees

Our consultant, Andrew Caplen, President of the Law Society of England & Wales, continues his fight for access to justice .

You may have heard about the cuts to Legal Aid, but now the Ministry of Justice proposes increasing Court fees, that is the fee paid to a Court to  start or take steps in Court proceedings.

These fees are already several hundreds of pounds and any increase could deter people from applying to  the Court, or indeed simply be beyond their means.

The Court of Protection, which deals with Deputyship (formerly Receivership) or disputes over vulnerable persons’ affairs is included, so the impact may be felt by us all.

Please read Andrew’s response here.
